About us
Verkís is a new name in the market for engineering services and was formed in the year 2008 by the merger of five Icelandic Engineering Consulting firms, VST, Rafteikning, Fjarhitun, Fjölhönnun and RT. Verkís marks the starting point of a leading multidisciplinary consulting firm in Iceland, aiming to provide customers with high quality services in all fields of engineering and other professional disciplines of consulting. The origin goes back to 1932, making Verkís the oldest consulting company in Iceland, and all the merging firms have a firm background in the energy- and construction industry of Iceland. For decades they have been leading firms in their respective fields of expertise and intend to unite their efforts in providing high quality services.
VST - Verkfræðistofa Sigurðar Thoroddsen
VST has over the years provided a wide range of services. Consultancy in the building industry, energy and infrastructure has been the main area of activity, having participated in most of the hydropower projects being built in Iceland. In recent years, VST has offered a variety of other services.
Rafteikning
Rafteikning has been one of the leading firms in electrical consulting in Iceland. The main fields of activity have been in power and control engineering and the firm has participated in the electrical design of power plants both in hydropower and geothermal power.
Fjarhitun
Fjarhitun was the leading firm in designing district heating systems, utilizing the geothermal hot water in Iceland and has also participated in the design of many geothermal power plants. Fjarhitun has provided a wide range of services in other fields of mechanical engineering.
Fjölhönnun
Fjöhönnun has been active in the design of roads, bridges and similar constructions and the structural design of buildings. Besides that the firm has participated in many projects providing supervision work and project management.
RT-Rafagnatækni
RT Rafagnatækni has specialized in the planning, design and programming of control systems for power plants and other systems in the field of automation, measurements and communication. RT has also been providing service in field of electronics.
