Verkís has assisted the turn-key contractor Atlas Copco Energas for the design of the brine gathering system, design of sections of the electrical- and control systems, design review of Contractor's drawings as well as site inspections to FAT tests. Last but not least has Verkís supervised the testing and commissioning of the generator protection and synchronisation systems and connection to the adjacent power grid.

Project overview:
The plant is located near the city of Çanakkale (before Troye) and belongs to NTM Enerji. Atlas Copco Gas and Process has delivered a plant that is operable in island mode.  This feature enables the client to feed smaller networks and will ensure stable operation of the plant by keeping it running in the case of grid failure.  This plant went on-line at the end of 2015.

The brine gathering is the first of its kind and has been designed for unusually high design pressure, to counter the problems caused by the high gas content in the brine. Verkís geothermal experts contributed to the design of the brine gathering system by defining the concept, conducting thermal- and structural stress analysis of ORC piping and performing detailed design of the piping system, in collaboration with Atlas Copco Energas.

Verkís also designed sections of the electrical- and control systems and conducted design review of Contractor's drawings as well as site inspections to FAT tests. Testing and commissioning is a crucial element in the development of geothermal power plants as the last step before operation and Verkís' multi-disciplinary team brings extensive experience in this field. Verkís' experts participated in the commissioning and start-up activities for the electrical, control and protection systems of the Çanakkale geothermal power plant.
